LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

With gratitude and humility, I walk, work, and play on the unceded ancestral lands of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Wendat, and the Mississaugas of the Credit River First Nation. I honour and respect the ancestors, spiritual beings, hereditary leaders, matriarchs, and all creatures—big and small— for their enduring stewardship, wisdom, and cultural teachings. These peoples have been the traditional caretakers of this land for thousands of years.

As a settler and an immigrant, a visitor to territory that is not my own, I recognize my responsibility to this land. I strive to be accountable to the principles and protocols of Treaty 13, the Dish with One Spoon, and the Two-Row Wampum. These treaties offer enduring guidance on respecting Indigenous sovereignty and honouring Nation-to-Nation relationships, while also holding teachings on how we might care for one another and ourselves.

I also acknowledge all Treaty peoples—whether settlers who arrived in this generation or generations past, or those brought here involuntarily, particularly forcibly displaced Africans through the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and slavery.

I recognize that my actions have the power to shape and impact the lives of others. With this awareness, I strive to use inclusive, gender-neutral language, while holding space for the realities of gender violence and imbalance.

Tsawalk – We are all interconnected.
